About Us

Health Dispatch

Our job is to read the research so you don't have to, and to tell you plainly what it says. We cover health, medicine, nutrition, fitness and the new technologies, treatments and supplements that are showing real results, so that you can make better decisions and live a long, healthy, happy life.

Why we exist

Most people never see the research that affects their health. It sits behind paywalls, it is written for specialists, and by the time it reaches the public it has usually been filtered through someone with something to sell. Health Dispatch was started to close that gap. Each dispatch takes one question, one study or one new development, explains what was actually found, says how strong the evidence is, and tells you what it means for you.

What we cover

  • New research in medicine and health science, explained in plain language
  • Nutrition: what the evidence supports, and what it doesn't
  • Fitness, movement and recovery
  • New technologies, inventions and treatments that have shown good results in published studies
  • Supplements and natural compounds, with a clear account of what the data shows
  • Long-term health: sleep, ageing, and the everyday habits that add up over decades

Our independence

Health Dispatch is independent. We are not owned by a pharmaceutical company, a hospital system, an insurer or an industry group, and none of them have a say in what we publish. Our clinicians write what the evidence supports, including when it goes against conventional practice and including when it points to simple, inexpensive options over costly ones. We will tell you when a treatment works, when it doesn't, and when nobody knows yet.

Who writes our articles

Our articles are written by a team of independent clinicians and doctors. A second clinician reviews each piece before it is published, and every article names its author and reviewer and links to the studies it draws on.

How we check our work

Every claim in an article is tied to a published source, and we say how strong that source is: a large randomized trial is not the same as a small observational study, and we tell you which one you are looking at. When the evidence changes, we update the article and note the change. If you spot an error, tell us through the Contact page and we will correct it.

How we are funded

Health Dispatch is free to read. We are paid for in two ways: advertisements that appear alongside our articles, and donations from readers. Advertisers have no influence over what we publish; our articles are written and reviewed by our clinicians alone. If you find the dispatches useful and want to keep them free for everyone, you can leave a donation.
